LAY - SUE KAY LAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose: | In memory of Sue Kay Lay, a Baker Junior High School student, who died in an automobile accident at age 13 on June 23, 1970, while visiting the family ranch in Brackettville. | Amount: | $1,500/as many as five available (This scholarship is renewable for one additional year.) | Eligibility: | Applicants must: - be high school seniors graduating at the end of the spring semester;
- be enrolled in college full time (12 hours or more);
- have a high school GPA of 95 percent;
- demonstrate financial need;
- graduate from a high school in the Coastal Bend*;
- submit a special essay (instructions on page 6 of the Common Application, and;
- maintain a permanent residence in the Coastal Bend.*

*Coastal Bend: Defined in the bylaws of the Coastal Bend Community Foundation as the counties of Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio.
