The Coastal Bend Community Foundation makes grants from Unrestricted Funds and Restricted Funds. It also manages Agency Endowed Funds, the proceeds of which are turned back to the agencies for them to use as they wish.
Agency Endowment Funds are established by nonprofit organizations as a means of protecting their charitable dollars for the future. A portion of the income and growth from Agency Endowment Funds is given to the organization annually while the principle grows to provide future benefits. The Coastal Bend Community Foundation’s Agency Endowment Funds total in excess of $2.8 million.
Agency Endowment Funds may be established with just $5,000. These funds are charged very low annual fees of 1/2 of 1 percent for funds with less than $1 million, and 1/4 of 1 percent for funds with more than $1 million. Non-profit organizations are encouraged to use the Community Foundation to establish Agency Endowment Funds.
